This item is a 3 box lot of 1989 Bowman Baseball Card Wax-Pack Boxes. This was quoted as Bowmans comeback year, into the sports card industry, after an absence of a couple decades.
This edition was a nice effort, and 1992 and 1993 Bowman Baseball would prove to have even nicer card designs. Most of these cards have a printed (stamped) signature of the player featured on the front of the cards, similar to that of Topps 1980 and 1982 designs.Baseball Card Exchanges authentication was done in August, of 2019, and I dont see any tears in the plastic wrap, BBCE uses. These boxes contain 36 wax packs, with 12 cards & 1 stick of gum, per pack. For collectors, or newcomers into the hobby, 1989 Bowman baseball cards are slightly oversized. They dont really fit in Ultra-Pro soft-sleeves.
I think they may be a bit too big for standard toploaders, as well, however, Ultra Pro and other manufacturers do produce oversized cases for these cards. The exact measurements for the cards are 2.5 by 3.75. The Sports Card Industry is running hot right now, and unopened material is always the most desired, since collectors break boxes, packs, and full cases to search for singles. The supply of unopened material continues to decrease, thus making unopened boxes increase in their value. The 1989 Bowman complete set only contains 484 cards, making it much easier to capture the cards you want, which would probably be a Ken Griffey, Jr rookie, or even a Gary Sheffield rookie. Nolan Ryan cards sell well too.
Gary Sheffield, John Smoltz, Sandy Alomar, Jr. There is also a Ken Griffey & Ken Griffey, Jr - Father/Son card in this set (#259).
